A-PLUS property report
Verisk's claims history report on a property or applicant, a counterpart to the LexisNexis database that insurers use to check past losses.
Also called: A-PLUS, Verisk A-PLUS, ISO A-PLUS, Automated Property Loss Underwriting System, A-PLUS claims history
A-PLUS, short for Automated Property Loss Underwriting System, is Verisk's claims-history database. Insurers that contribute their own claims data can order A-PLUS property reports. Per Verisk, these show up to seven years of claims for a property, applicant or policyholder, with the loss date and type, the paying insurer, the amount paid and the claim number. In most states damage the insurer never paid can also appear. Verisk also sells a separate score based on claims in the surrounding area, a reminder that insurers look at the neighborhood as well as the house.
Which database an insurer checks is its choice, and many use CLUE, A-PLUS or both. That matters to you in one practical way: an error in one database does not correct the other. If a surcharge, a declination or a renewal change cites claims history that looks wrong, ask the insurer which report it used and request that one.
Verisk is a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, so you are entitled to a free disclosure once every 12 months and can dispute inaccurate entries. The request forms are on Verisk's FCRA disclosure site. See loss history for how underwriters read the entries, and the CLUE reports: how claims history follows you and your house guide for the full picture.
