HO-7 (mobile home form)

A homeowners-style policy for owner-occupied mobile and manufactured homes, adapting property and liability coverage to how those homes are built and sited.

Also called: HO 00 07, HO7, mobile home policy, mobilehome insurance

HO-7 is the label for the mobile home form in the traditional HO series. It works like the HO-3: it insures the home, attached structures and belongings, and carries liability and medical payments coverage like other owner-occupied forms. The label is less standardized than HO-3, though. ISO has handled mobilehome coverage by attaching an endorsement to an HO-2 or HO-3, and many insurers use their own manufactured-home form, so the title on your policy may differ.

These policies address features that site-built homes do not have: anchoring and tie-downs, skirting, steps and decks, transit between sites, and whether the home sits on land you own or in a rented lot. Insurers may set age limits or require proof of anchoring. A home built before the federal HUD Code took effect on June 15, 1976, is a "mobile home" rather than a manufactured home, and some insurers write those only at actual cash value.

If you financed the home as personal property, the lender may appear as a loss payee rather than a mortgagee. For how these policies differ in practice, read mobile and manufactured home insurance and the glossary entry for manufactured home.
